Learning about why to have survival foods ready should give you a clear idea of why it’s so important to always be prepared. Nobody can see the future, we can make educated guesses about things, but even the best guesses are, well guesses. The thing to remember is that most disasters or emergencies, or survival situations aren’t something that you see coming. They hit suddenly, and if you aren’t prepared then your chances of surviving drop dramatically. Nobody wants to spend their days worrying about what could happen and living their life in fear. But, there is a huge difference between living in fear, and recognizing that sometimes bad things happen, and it’s smart to be prepared. In fact, being prepared should give you more peace of mind, which will help you to avoid feeling as much stress, which should lead to a happier life.

Having Survival Food At Home Is A Must

If you want proof of just how unpredictable the future can be, just look at the state of the world today. Inflation is running rampant, fuel prices are hitting everyone in the wallet, and most importantly food shortages are predicted in the near future. That’s right, in the modern society that we live in, the perfect combination of drought, global warming, overpopulation, and an unexpected major military confrontation has led the world to the precipice of a major food shortage. While having prices driven up might seem serious, it pales in comparison to what would happen if there was a genuine food shortage where people couldn’t just walk into any store and pick up dinner.

It probably seems far-fetched, and odds are that it won’t get to the point of a true emergency where it’s difficult to even find food. But, what if it does? What if you can’t go to the store and pick up dinner? What if you couldn’t go to a restaurant and order a meal? What if the supply chain was disrupted and you couldn’t get food? It’s not a pleasant thought, is it? How would you feed your family? How would you survive?

For one thing, you wouldn’t want to be out amongst the masses fighting for scraps. There’s nothing more dangerous than large groups of scared, desperate people. No, you don’t want any part of that. You want to be able to stay home, fortify it, and ensure that you are able to protect your family. The only way to do that is to ensure that your basic needs are met so you won’t be preoccupied with trying to find ways to meet them. When it comes to basic needs, food is right at the top of the list.

Understanding why to have survival foods ready is all about understanding the real meaning of the word survival. Survival foods are foods that are there when things are bleak. When the power is out when food is nowhere to be found when the world has been turned on its head and things aren’t going according to plan. Why should you always have survival food on hand? Because it’s shelf-stable, easy to prepare, and it’s there in case you need it in a real emergency.

Packing Survival Foods For Outdoor Adventures Is Also A Must

Who doesn’t love a great camping, fishing, or hunting trip? Or, how about something simpler, like a hike in a remote area? These are all fun outdoor activities that can help you to experience the natural world and reconnect with it for a little while. They are also activities that, if planned well are usually very safe. But, what happens if you don’t plan well? Or, what if there’s some kind of accident or other incidents that can turn a fun weekend into a nightmare? What do you do then? What do you do if you suddenly realize that you’ve become lost on your hike? Or bad weather leaves you trapped at your campsite for longer than you expected?

The point is that when you are engaging in an outdoor activity there’s always a chance that something could go wrong. Think about it this way, when you’re at home, have you ever had an accident? Of course, you have! What should get your attention is that if you can have an accident in a place as familiar to you as your home, then what do you think could happen when you’re in the great outdoors?

The absolute worst thing you can do when a fun outdoor trip turns into a survival situation is to panic. But, that’s what most people do, and it’s a normal, expected reaction in this type of situation. What you have to do is to try to control your emotions and resist the urge to panic. Yes, it’s easier said than done, but what can make it just a little easier is to have the peace of mind of knowing that you’re prepared.

The idea of living off the land might sound adventurous, but the reality is that for most of us, it’s a bleak way to try to survive. Good luck hunting and foraging when you’ve never done it before. You probably have no idea what edible fruits and vegetables grow near you, do you? Have you ever made a snare? Have you ever fished knowing that your success or failure would dictate whether you ate dinner that night? Trying to hunt and gather for food is much, much harder than most people realize.

This is why survival food is so important. If you pack a few days’ worthof survival food in a backpack for your trip, and you don’t use it, then the only inconvenience you have suffered is having to pack it, unpack it, and carry an extra few pounds with you. But, if you do end up needing it, you’ll be thankful that you have the foresight to pack it in your backpack. Something as simple as two days’ worth of survival food can end up meaning the difference between life and death should you ever find yourself in a real survival situation.
