If you are someone who spends a lot of time outdoors, such as hiking, camping, or fishing, you never want to leave the home without a good survival knife. As the name implies, this is something which one day might just save your life. Let’s take a look at the Boker Plus Urban Survival Knife.
Today we are here to review the Boker Plus Urban Survival Knife, which is a small and compact, moderately priced, and high-quality stainless steel folding survival knife. It’s not huge, it’s not super expensive, and it is very versatile.
The Boker Plus Urban Survival Knife is a great item for any outdoorsman. Whether you are a fisherman, a hunter, a camper, hiker, or anything in between, having a good survival knife on hand will always come in handy. They can be used for so many different things, such as first aid, self-defense, for fishing, for making traps, making kindling, lighting fires, and much more. Any and every outdoorsman needs a good survival knife like the Boker Plus Urban Survival Knife.
When you purchase the Boker Plus Urban Survival Knife, you get a folding knife with a 1.6 inch blade, which is nearly 6 inches in length overall. Everything is made out of heavy-duty and high-quality stainless steel.
One of the biggest benefits that you are going to get out of the Boker Plus Urban Survival Knife is that it is super lightweight and compact. In terms of survival knives, this one is about as lightweight as possible which is a benefit because it won’t weigh you down as you traverse the great outdoors. Moreover, it is a compact knife as well, so it is very easy to handle; its small size and weight make it highly maneuverable.
Moreover, keep in mind that this is a folding knife, not a fixed-blade knife. Some people may not like this because you have to unfold the blade, which in some circumstances can be very bad, especially when getting your knife out quickly means life or death. However, with that said, it is a high-quality folding knife with nice hinges.
The fact that it is a folding knife makes it perfectly safe to carry without a sheath. Simply put it in your pocket, and of course, it won’t take up much room due to this.
The Boker Plus Urban Survival Knife comes with a blade lift feature, so although you do have to unfold the blade, it is really not much of a struggle. Next, there is a secure locking mechanism in place which prevents the blade from closing on its own, which could cause injury, but not with this knife. Furthermore, there is also an easy-to-reach lever inside the handle which just needs to be pushed to the side to close it.
In terms of the handle, the Boker Plus Urban Survival Knife comes with a stainless steel handle that is roughly 4 inches long. It’s long enough to hold with ease, but no so long as to be obtrusive. The fact that it is made out lightweight stainless steel makes it not too heavy. It also comes with a fairly nice texture and grip pattern so you can hold it securely; your hands are not going to slip off the handle and get cut.
The high-quality stainless steel blade is about as tough as can be. It has an insane level of impact resistance, it is not going to chip easily, plus it can handle moisture with ease; stainless steel does not rust. The blade itself looks kind of like a scalpel and it is 1.6 inches in length. No, the blade is not very long, which means that it is not the best for bigger jobs. However, the blade is super sharp, has a great edge, does not need to be sharpened often, and allows for super precise cutting. It’s a great tool to have for working with a freshly caught fish, for cutting fishing line, and for other such things.
In terms of a tutorial, there is really not too much to say about the Boker Plus Urban Survival Knife. It is a straightforward folding knife. Simply use the little knob to lift the blade, take it out all the way so it locks into place, and use it for whatever you see fit. When you are done, move the interior level to the side to release the blade and pop it back into the handle.
In case you are not a fan of the Boker Plus Urban Survival Knife, maybe because the blade is too short, or because you do not want a folding knife, there are some alternatives which you can check out. For one, you could check out the Boker Plus Anti-Grav Knife. This is also a folding knife, but it has a blade that is several inches longer than the product we reviewed above, plus it has a nice carbon fiber handle.
If you do not like the folding knife design, you could always go for a fixed-blade survival knife such as the Schrade SCHF3N 12in Full Tang High Carbon S.S. Fixed Blade Knife. This is a survival knife that Rambo himself would be proud of.
The bottom line is that the Boker Plus Urban Survival Knife is one of our favorite survival knives out there right now. It’s not too expensive or heavy and it works well for various tasks.
